Preparing for Pittcon
I will be heading for Atlanta next week, home amongst other things to a rather well-known soft drinks company and a major television news channel. More importantly for me, it’s the venue for this year’s Pittcon Conference & Expo, which takes place at The Georgia World Congress Center from 13-17 March. I very much hope I’ll have the chance to meet some of you there on Malvern’s booth #1127. What’s more I was delighted to discover that you can download a mobile app for free at http://www.pittcon.org/attendees/mobileapp.php – so I hope you’ll add a visit to Booth #1127 to the schedule it allows you to create.
New products
As always, Pittcon offers a great opportunity to show off new products. You’ll be able to find out how the combination of imaging and Raman spectroscopy in our upcoming Morphologi G3-ID particle characterization system allows you to look at look at particle size, shape and composition. And making its US show debut, the brand new Zetasizer MicroV SEC-LS chromatography detector will add the power of advanced dynamic light scattering technology to any size exclusion chromatography system. Needless to say, the world’s most popular particle size analyzer will also be there in all its glory too – I refer of course to the Mastersizer 2000!
And it’s a learning experience
Thankfully Pittcon isn’t just about new products. Colleagues from Malvern will be running two short courses during the conference. ‘Fundamentals of Particle Size Analysis with an Emphasis on Light Scattering Techniques’ on March 14th is intended to bring newcomers to the particle sizing field up to speed on the basics, while ‘Molecular and Particle Characterization by Dynamic Light Scattering and Zeta Potential’ on March 16th will discuss, review and provide useful tips for dynamic light scattering (DLS, PCS, QELS), molecular weight and electrophoretic light scattering (zeta potential) measurements.
Watch this space
I’m going to Atlanta armed with a video camera, so I hope we’ll be posting some views of the show during the week, as well as blogging. Keep on watching and reading…..or see you there!
