Notes from Malvern Panalytical’s ASD Technical Support – ASD Software Packages
ASD Spectroscopy Software Packages
A few of the more common questions Malvern Panalytical’s ASD technical support team receive regarding our software solutions are: What do they do? What is the difference between them? What applications are they best suited for? In this post, we explain the difference between the two most common ASD software packages and provide some example applications they are used with.
ASD offers two software packages for control of your ASD instrument, RS3 Spectral Acquisition software and Indico Pro spectral acquisition software.
Indico Pro Spectral Acquisition Software
The Indico Pro software is a data acquisition tool for generating, analyzing, printing and saving your analytical results quickly and easily. It is typically utilized as a collect-on-demand solution in laboratory environments and allows for real-time predictions to be made during data collection.
Indico Pro is used for material qualification and quantification across a variety of applications, including:
- Mining process control
- Raw materials analysis
- Food and Pharmaceutical process control
- Soils analysis
Indico Pro easily exports the spectral information of a scanned sample into several popular chemometric software packages, including Thermo Scientific™ GRAMS™ Suite Spectroscopy Software and The Unscrambler® by Camo Software.
RS3 Spectral Acquisition Software
The RS3 software is designed for field use and operates in a continuous collect condition. This software, when paired with the appropriate calibration files, is capable of collecting absolute reflectance and radiometric measurements in real-time.
The RS3 software facilitates simple and convenient data collection for applications such as:
- Ground truthing
- Glacial studies
- Large scale mapping
- Pollution research
Both software packages can be used with any of the ASD FieldSpec 4, ASD LabSpec 4, or ASD TerraSpec 4 instruments but are only shipped with certain instrument configurations. The ASD FieldSpec instruments include RS3, ASD LabSpec instruments include Indico Pro, and the ASD TerraSpec Hi-Res instrument includes both software packages. If you are interested in using a software package that was not included with your instrument, RS3 and Indico Pro are available to download for free by contacting technical support.
