Here’s to you!
As we approach the Christmas and New Year holiday season here in the UK, I wish to thank our many customers for the imaginative research and depth of discovery to which they have applied Malvern Instruments systems in 2010. It has been fun working with you! I hope you have enjoyed working with our products too!
Helping us stay healthy
Dr Martin Muschol, Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida’s (USF) Department of Physics and his team are employing the Zetasizer Nano ZS in important research to gain a better understanding of protein aggregation phenomena, including protein crystallization and amyloid fibril growth. Through this, they are hoping to understand some of the triggers for degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer‘s or Parkinson’s disease.
Continuing studies of fire suppression systems in the Department of Fire Protection Engineering at the University of Maryland, directed by Professor André Marshall, are being enhanced with a Malvern Spraytec system.
Making our world a better place
Thanks to its versatility, the Mastersizer 2000 particle size analyzer installed in the School of Natural Sciences at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland) is proving to be an essential tool for a number of different research groups whose projects range from particle sizing in marine sediments to the investigation of storm drains – and even analyzing dust from the university library!
Creating better products
A team of researchers led by Professor Timothy McKenna, Canada Research Chair in polymer reaction engineering at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, is using the Viscotek TDAmax gel permeation chromatography (GPC) system to optimize polymerisation conditions for the production of specifically tailored materials, including those with applications in the paints and adhesives industries.
Boldly going where no man has gone before
And when it comes to building speciality products for pharmaceutical and space applications, Ted Day, President of speciality glass manufacturer Mo-Sci Corporation, believes that the Morphologi G3 is the only particle characterization system on the market capable of delivering results at the levels of accuracy he requires, delivering the critical size distribution and morphology data he needs to ensure product performance.
And much, much more…
You can read about these, and other customer stories, on our website.
If you use an analytical system from Malvern Instruments and would like to share your story, we would love to hear from you. Feel free to contact us or post your comments to this blog.
With thanks
So with the pleasant notion that the work we do together really can change the world, I would like to thank you for everything you have done in 2010.To Malvern’s customers throughout the world:
