The new Morphologi 4 range: Design matters!
What a wonderful boost we had to the February 14th launch of the new Morphologi 4 and Morphologi 4-ID when we found out that these systems were winners of an iF (Industrie Forum) Design 2018 award! As the Project Manager responsible for Visual Brand Language on the Morphologi 4 range, I work closely with the design teams both here at Malvern Panalytical, and also at DCA Design, the agency which helped bring our vision for the instruments to life!
So, what are some of the design changes we implemented in the new systems, and why? Well, we noticed on our visits to customer sites that many people rotated the previous instruments on their benches and inside their fume hoods, in order that they better fit the available space. We tried rotating the microscope in the new products and found that an additional benefit was improved access to the stage.
We brought together the Raman spectroscope and the automated microscope in a single, integrated platform, to create a sleeker, more modern look. The work area is now enclosed behind an automatic sliding door. In addition to avoiding light and dust contamination, this, along with the necessary interlocks, makes the new Morphologi 4-ID system Class 1 for laser safety. When the door is open, the measurement area is automatically illuminated, facilitating work on the microscope stage.
With its simple and intuitive controls and indicators, the Morphologi 4 is a pleasure to use. But don’t just take our word for it – find out more here. Or perhaps watch the launch video below and find out what our users think!
