Team Malvern making moves for charity

We have a wonderful team here at Malvern Instruments, full of people who are constantly looking for ways to give back to the community on a local or even global scale.  And apparently, we are a particularly sporty lot as well, with lots of Malvernites setting out on sponsored runs and walks over the next few weeks!  Here are just a few examples of Malvern people who are on the move for great causes in the near future:

Amy Ross, one of our Separations Applications Specialists based at Malvern HQ in the UK, will be taking part in the Brighton Marathon on the 17th April.

Amy says, “It may not be fast, it may not be pretty, but I will complete those 26.2 miles!  I am doing this to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society.  It is a fantastic charity that provides support to both sufferers and loved ones affected by dementia.  It is estimated that 850,000 people are suffering with dementia in the UK alone, and that number is rising.  Of particular concern is the increase in the number of early onset Alzheimer’s sufferers (below the age of 60), something which is a worry to us all.

Danielle Fogerty, Customer Support Administrator in our Westborough, MA, office in the USA, is currently in training for the Boston Marathon on April 18th to support the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

“Why did I choose to run for Dana Farber?  Well in the past 2 years I have lost 4 relatives to cancer and 2 weeks before I was going to decide on a charity for this marathon, my boyfriend’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, so that made the choice a simple one.  I have already raised over $5,000, but my ultimate goal is $10,000.  I hope to get there, and with your donation I can.  You can donate here: www.runDFMC.org/2016/rundaniellerun.  Thank you. Annaelle Bolton, European Helpdesk Manager, also based in our Malvern UK headquarters, is also running to fight cancer.  She was lucky enough to win a place for the London Marathon on April 24th in a Christmas raffle, and is going to give her all to this cause, despite it being her first ever marathon.

“I have managed to complete a few half marathons before, but this is very much going to my ‘once in a lifetime’ attempt.  I do not enjoy running in the rain and this has been the wettest winter on record, so it has sometimes been a little hard to find motivation to go out, but I am raising money for Cancer Research UK, so if you feel like supporting this very worthy cause, please follow this link: http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/AnnaelleBolton”

Nicolas Rinaldo, Helpdesk Specialist from Malvern, UK, has just completed his first marathon in Paris on April 3rd.

Nicolas said, “Training during winter time was not always easy but Malvern is such a nice place to run!  Running a marathon is a huge challenge for me as I wanted to fully and physically understand the notion of delayed gratification and fighting for my goals. It will also be a nice way to say “au revoir” to my native country in Paris, which is my favorite city.  I am running to support a charity that I care about: http://nutritionfacts.org/. The aim of this organisation is to share in an accessible way the current nutrition knowledge based on peer reviewed articles to make us understand that what we put daily into our body has a significant impact on our health.  By extending our knowledge, we can choose to actively fight against some of the leading causes of death 3 times a day.”

We also have an entire squadron of Malvernites taking part in the 40 mile midnight “Plod 2016”, along the Cotswold Way:

Participants include individuals from across our company: Product Management, IT, Marketing, Engineering, Human Resources, Customer Support, Technical Support, and the list goes on!  Martin Weaver, Chris Church, Craig Sagar, Paul Kippax, Andy Buckmaster, Sarah Macdonell, Jenny Bristow, Alice Gaujour, Paola Sestito, Irina Stan, Shona Murphy and Alison Findlay, we are behind you all the way!

We are all immensely proud of all of our Malvern family in the tough challenges they have set for themselves, and very much look forward to seeing the photos and hearing the success stories to come.
