Metal powders for high value powder metallurgy applications such as Additive Manufacturing have strict specification requirements because small variations in input material can adversely affect the properties of the final component. To address this need, powder handling systems at atomizer and end user facilities are becoming increasingly more continuous and sealed. This requires relevant techniques for monitoring powder properties in-line with particle size one of the key metrics required to ensure effective and automated process control. In this webinar we will discuss the benefits of in-line particle sizing for in atomizer and end-user facilities and report work comparing in-line (Insitec) and off-line (Mastersizer 3000) measurements for four stainless steel powders having particle size ranges suitable for metal injection moulding, additive manufacturing, laser powder deposition and hot isostatic pressing.
