12th – Applying Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis to the Study of Drug Delivery Vectors
Pauline Carnell will explain the challenge of relating in vitro characteristics to in vivo characteristics, How NTA can bridge the gap in understanding within targeted drug delivery and the importance for delivery vectors. She will also go through the basics of Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA).
Kaat Kehoe, a PhD student working in the Laboratory of Medical Biochemistry at the University of Antwerp, Belgium will talk about the purpose of this study. It was to validate the use of isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) to study enzyme kinetics, in comparison to more conventional methods. The study led to the discovery of a novel substrate for prolyl carboxypeptidase, an enzyme involved in body weight regulation.
14th – Fast, easy and reliable – Flow Injection Polymer Analysis for QA/QC and Process Control
Wei Sen Wong will compare the benefits of ‘information rich’ GPC against the ‘faster and more repeatable’ data generated using Flow Injection Polymer Analysis (FIPA) for Polyacrylonitrile and Polycarbonate materials.
19th – Applying Quality by Design to the manufacture of drug product for biopharmaceuticals
Christina Vessely will compare the benefits of ‘information rich’ GPC against the ‘faster and more repeatable’ data generated using Flow Injection Polymer Analysis (FIPA) for Polyacrylonitrile and Polycarbonate materials.
Verna Frasca will discuss how ITC is used to push forward small molecule drug discovery of epigenetic targets. The term ‘epigenetics’ refers to changes in and regulation of gene expression and function, without alteration of DNA sequence. The mechanisms behind these changes involve “epigenetic regulator” proteins that interact with and modify chromatin (DNA wrapped around histone proteins).
28th – Demo at your desk: Kinexus
Adrian Hill will give you a live online demo of the Kinexus. You will be able to take a look at the system and some of its typical measurement systems (geometries) and accessories via webcam. We will also screen-share the software with you so that you can follow a live measurement and demonstrate just how easy it is to perform accurate and reproducible rheological measurements.
