18th Anniversary – Malvern Panalytical Webinar Program

2019 will mark the combined 18th year of webinars for our Malvern Panalytical organization. I use the word “combined,” because the Spectris holdings of Malvern Instruments Ltd. merged with PANalytical B.V. on January 1, 2017 forming Malvern Panalytical, thereby bringing together brands including ASD, Claisse, Malvern Instruments, MicroCal and PANalytical.

If we were to break it down, Malvern Instruments has been conducting webinars since 2001 and PANalytical since 2011; MicroCal started up about 10 years ago in 2008, Claisse has held webinars since 2014, and ASD began their webinar program in 2016.

Webinars are a valuable medium and allow us to globally provide educational content and engage with our customers and prospects. Generated webinar content can be watched live, or at a later date made available “on-demand” through on-line recordings.

Last year, celebrating the milestone of 100 organizationally held webinars, we featured Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and Applications Manager, Dr. Alan Rawle, as he detailed how the development of technology over the years has greatly enhanced the webinar program in this blog post.

Developing and implementing a successful webinar program combining a variety of technologies is no small feat. To take this initiative on, Malvern Panalytical appointed Linda Bratica to be the organization’s webinar coordinator, essentially tasking her to bring together all product brands into one combined webinar program. And, what better person to select for such an important role, essentially ‘pouring the glue,’ than Linda – who has also coincidentally been employed (pre-merger) with both Malvern Instruments (2000-2013) and PANalytical (2013-2017) for a combination of 18 years.

Linda began hosting and running webinars 15 years ago, learning and experiencing much along the way; she offers, “I would describe our webinar program as both complimentary and educational, with many benefits at its pinnacle. In the beginning, back in 2003, I was intrigued by the idea of providing scientists, students and technical specialists with a global platform to be able to present their work; taking their brilliant work that had previously existed in paper form to a place where thousands could have the opportunity to learn from it was attractive. The web seminars allow live attendees to ask their questions and receive immediate answers, another attractive benefit that had previously been handled through the customer support telephone line. Now, with 15 years experience, I concentrate on the creation of the program, learning about new trends in the production process, coordinating 6 to 10 web seminars a month with a team of 15 people. Oh, how times have changed! Working with web seminar production, and providing accessible educational content has remained a large positive part in my everyday life here at Malvern Panalytical.

As we continue to build our program, we invite you to connect with us and aid as an advisor, helping us to:

  • Choose topics carefully …what interests you, what do you want to learn about that we can offer to you that will provide value?
  • Hear you …we offer polls, a Q&A session, and a post-webinar survey
  • Network …we offer contact information at the end of our webinars to encourage a continuation of the discussion afterwards, inviting presenters and participants to make connections on questions and topics that may not come up during the webinar.
  • Demonstrate your mastery …customer participation is welcome! Are you a researcher in a certain area of expertise? Engage with us as a speaker, sharing your application and Malvern Panalytical instrument user experience!
