Presented by Dr. Anne Virden and Dr. Robert Taylor of Malvern Panalytical
Laser diffraction is an extremely popular and versatile technology for measuring the particle size distribution of materials. It provides fast, reproducible particle size data for a huge range of applications. Image analysis is often used in combination with laser diffraction to provide further understanding of how materials behave as well as being an orthogonal technique which helps with method validation.
Looking at your material on a microscope often needs a different sample preparation and that can make the picture more complicated. With the Hydro Insight you can make dynamic imaging measurements alongside your laser diffraction measurements, using the same sample in the same state of dispersion.
In this webinar, we’ll take a deeper look at the Hydro Insight, a dynamic imaging module for the Mastersizer 3000 that we launched in July this year. The Hydro Insight provides a window into the Mastersizer, showing you images of your dispersion as well as recording thumbnail images of particles and measuring quantitative particle shape data.
We’ll take a look at how the Hydro Insight combines with the Mastersizer 3000, how it collects images and the range of shape parameters and data analysis options that are available. Then we’ll explore how this information can benefit your laser diffraction measurements by looking at case studies of how combining dynamic imaging and laser diffraction can help you to; understand your materials better, speed up your method development, make troubleshooting easier and simplify method transfer.
