Easy Essential Zetasizer eLearning – 3 modules
Elearning is a popular theme these days: Training for any new instrument in your lab can be a challenge. That’s why we offer easy, remote access to specific training modules for some systems. With our suite of e-learning courses, scheduling becomes a breeze. Courses are available 24/7 at any time of the year. In this post, I try to give a summary of the available online self-paced courses we have for the Zetasizer Advance series.
The Basics – Foundation – Essentials eLearning
When you order a Zetasizer, it typically arrives with the self-install option. Go to the Zetasizer Advance Smart Installation page and request e-learning. The direct link is also on the outside of the shipping container. Just fill in the form on the right half of the page, and click the submit button at the bottom. Within days, the login details will arrive via email. Once you have your login details, you then have 15 months of access. The basic course ELC0020 also has the description “Zetasizer Advance Essentials eLearning Course”. Course Contents include: Optics layout, DLS, ELS, MADLS, Particle Concentration, Cells, Intro to making measurements.
Next level – User eLearning
This course contains engaging ZS Xplorer software tutorials for size and for zeta measurements. Therefore it is perfect for users who may carry out simple tests under supervision. Building on the theory parts of the Essentials course, you experience the software at the user level. For example, how to set up a measurement and advanced method options. The next level course ELC0021 also has the description “Zetasizer Advance User eLearning Course“.
For experts – Analyst eLearning
Here, advanced users learn how to develop complex methods and analyze results. The ‘for experts’ level course ELC0022 also has the description “Zetasizer Advance Analyst eLearning Course“. The topics include complex method development, detailed result analysis and result interpretation. The Analyst level builds on the content of the previous two courses.
To access the above courses, you need to have a computer with the internet. The speed requirements are moderate, however, the initial download may take some time on slower internet connections. As an indicator, if youtube videos work, the training videos should also. You can find more detailed general minimum requirements concerning computer, display resolution, network connectivity, and browser version. In principle, the content is reachable from a smartphone screen. Nevertheless, the smaller screen size may make full interaction with the training and course material more challenging.
After registration, we provide a link to a login page with the login and the password. The content is available for 15 months from the login creation date. Access is unlimited and unmetered. If you stop a course module you can return to it at a later time. Alternatively, you can restart the module or the entire course.
The chapters in the training are sequential and linear: while you can easily go back to previous lessons you cannot skip forward to any content or quiz before you have taken all the required pre-requisite training. Quizzes are multiple choice questions. A minimum percentage of correct answers (typically 80%) leads to a pass checkmark for that section. You can print (or save to pdf) a certificate of completion at the very end of the course when you have passed the quiz sections.
Screen inactivity leads to an automatic session timeout (typically after 10 minutes). But no problem, you can return to the login and then pick up where you left off.
A completed course is still available for the validity of the account login. Once all sections and modules are completed, you can also skip forward or backward to different sections. Finally, you can take the quiz tests again to refresh your key learning topics.
