The laser module (LM12) is classified (to BS EN 60825-1) as a Class 1 laser device. However, this illumination unit contains a Class 3B laser source. In order to be able to classify the laser module as a Class 1 laser product, an interlock tool has been incorporated in the form of a security hex driver bonded to the cable.
If the cable is beginning to break down you could see an intermittent loss of laser power on your NanoSight LM10 instrument.
