Don’t miss your chance to meet protein and particle experts!

The New Year brings a unique opportunity for interaction with key opinion leaders at Malvern Panalytical’s free-to-attend Symposium on Biophysical and Particle Characterization, taking place at Medimmune Cambridge, UK, on February 19th.

Please take a look at the event page to discover the packed agenda and view the speaker list, and also to register yourself for this unmissable Symposium.  There are limited seats now remaining, so make sure you don’t miss out!

We’ll be blogging over the next few weeks to give you a preview of what’s in store on the day itself!

First up is Jennifer McManus, of the Department of Chemistry at Maynooth University in Ireland, who will be presenting on ‘The Chemical and Physical Basis for Protein Self-Assembly.’ Jennifer will be talking about the challenges she sees in understanding the mechanisms for protein aggregation, with a particular focus on reversible self-association. This can be hard to predict, since it may be mediated by ‘patchy’ interactions, and difficult to measure and characterize because of the analytical challenges that we can face when working at high concentrations.

Jennifer will be using protein phase diagrams to present the effects of both mutagenesis and also chemical modification of the protein surface on anisotropic protein:protein interactions, and will discuss the resulting impact of these changes on the protein’s solubility and colloidal stability. She will present case studies focusing on IgG1, and her work on the characterization of protein assemblies across a wide range of concentrations.

We hope you’ll be able to join us on February 19th to see this and a host of other fantastic presentations!  If you have any questions at all ahead of the Symposium, please contact us and we will do our best to help you.

See you soon in Cambridge!
