Malvern Panalytical, a leading analytical instrumentation supplier, has joined Wiley’s KnowItAll Raman Spectral Identification partner program.
As a KnowItAll Raman Spectral Identification Partner, Malvern Panalytical will bundle its Morphologi 4-ID instrument with a one-year subscription to Wiley’s KnowItAll Raman Identification Pro package. This package includes a complete solution for spectral analysis that combines a year subscription to the renowned KnowItAll Raman Spectral Library (over 25,000 spectra) and powerful spectral identification tools.
“When identifying unknown compounds with Raman spectroscopy, customers will benefit from KnowItAll’s unparalleled combination of comprehensive, high-quality spectra and advanced software technology for results they can rely upon,” said Graeme Whitley, Product Director of Wiley Science Solutions.
‘’Chemically identifying unknown particles is an essential step in problem solving for our Morphologi 4-ID customers when they need to understand what the particle they have found is and to try to work out where it came from.
The direct export of spectra from our Morphologi 4-ID software to Wiley’s KnowItAll software combined with its extensive database of high-quality Raman spectra is a feature we introduced a few years ago. It offers that significant value to our customers as it provides them with a quick and easy workflow for the identification of particles of interest as well as additional tools for advanced spectral analysis. We are therefore delighted to announce a further development in our partnership with Wiley and to offer our customers access to the KnowItAll platform free of charge for the first year so they can really try it out and see for themselves the value it brings them.’’ said Deborah Huck-Jones, Group Product Manager – Micro-Materials at Malvern Panalytical.
Partners who join the Wiley Raman Spectral Identification partner program also have the option to integrate the KnowItAll technology with their solution to offer a streamlined customer experience.

Researchers use spectral search software along with spectral databases to identify unknown substances and verify the composition of materials in hundreds of applications and industries. First, precision instruments measure a substance and produce a spectrum, which is expressed as a graph showing a series of peaks that is specific to the sample material. That spectrum is then compared to a reference database of the measured spectra of known substances using sophisticated search algorithms. If a matching spectrum is found, the material in question can be identified. Wiley’s KnowItAll solutions provide search software tools, as well as the world's most extensive collection of reference spectra used in this type of analysis.
