Packing List for the Zetasizer
When you order a new Zetasizer we include several items to help you hit the ground running. So what exactly do we include in the packing list for a Zetasizer Advance series instrument? Find out which cuvette, cell, standard is in the box.
Installation kit
When you unpack your new Zetasizer box, you’ll find two main components: 1. the actual instrument, for example, a Lab, Pro, or Ultra, and 2. an installation kit. The installation kit is a separate cardboard box from the system. All systems regardless of model variant have the same installation kit parts. And here is how that box looks:
You can see power cable, USB cable, de-ionized water, beakers, and two boxes of cuvettes/cells.
Packing list of the installation kit
So which cells exactly are in this box? We provide a starting supply of cells to perform zeta potential and size measurements. Here are the specific part numbers of the relevant components, i.e. the packing list. (And in case you’d like to order replacements, the links go to our webstore.)
- Disposable capillary cells DTS1070 – these are primarily for zeta potential. Also suitable for size measurements in backscattering. There are 10 cells in this box.
- Square polystyrene cuvettes DTS0012 – these are for size measurements in back, side or forward angle. 12mm outside dimension. Also suitable for many standard UVVis spectrometers. There are 100 cells in this box.
- Square glass cuvette PCS1115 – for size measurements in back, side or forward angle. Compatible with many dispersants and organic solvents. This is a single square glass cuvette with a square teflon stopper.
- 1 Syringe of transfer standard ZTS1240 – for instrument installation verification.
In summary, with the above installation kit components, you should have a good starting supply for a wide range of samples and applications. So the installation kit is essentially the main part of the packing list of your new Zetasizer.
Beyond the installation kit
While you can cover an amazing range of applications with the initial supplies, in some situations you might need to go even further. Here is a list of some useful items to consider when expanding your applications:
- Low volume disposable cuvette ZEN0040 – for low volume (40 uL), backscatter size only. Also compatible with a range of solvents.
- Unique low volume sizing cell accessory kit ZSU1002 – for ultra-low volume (3 uL), side scatter size only. Replacement capillaries are ZSU1003
- Low volume quartz cuvette ZEN2112 – for high quality size, backscatter and side scatter. Good for high sensitivity applications, like proteins at low concentration.
- Non-aqueous electrophoretic mobility, universal dip cell kit ZEN1002 – to enable zeta for a wider range of solvents. As a result of the lower dielectric constant of non-aqueous dispersants, the electrodes distance is smaller than in the DTS1070 cells.
- Also very nice to have: a sealed toluene cuvette ZEN0085 – for checking scattering intensity/sensitivity and for calibration of MADLS particle concentration.
Finally, a range of specific size standards are available. These are not part of the standard packing list, but you may have ordered one.
