Remote demos: the new normal
As an Applications Scientist at Malvern Panalytical, part of my job is performing demos for prospective customers. Typically, these occur in person, either at the customer’s site or in one of our Malvern Panalytical laboratories. On occasion, due to time or travel considerations, my colleagues and I have had to get a bit creative and perform remote demos.
As the global situation with COVID-19 continues to change our daily lives at home, it has also impacted routine business practices. Social distancing has all but eliminated our ability to travel and gather with customers around an instrument. All of a sudden, remote demos have become the norm!
If you’re interested in learning more about how Malvern Panalytical’s instruments can work for you, schedule a remote demo to find out!
But wait, are your labs still open?
Yes! We are adhering to WHO and CDC recommendations and have implemented procedures to safely maintain lab activity while minimizing on-site personnel.
How does a remote demo work?
The improvement in telecommunications over the past decade offers a variety of ways to share information. The methods we employ for a remote demo include live audio and video, in which we can describe and show various aspects of the instrument. These include:
- Hardware
- Accessories
- Sample preparation
- Sequence set up
- Sample analysis
The other tool we use to great effect is screen sharing. This allows us to highlight the instrument control, data acquisition, and analysis functions of our software platforms.
The combination of these techniques allows us to offer you a complete demo from the comfort of your own home!
Can I remote demo my samples?
Of course! While scheduling your remote demo, ask about submitting a few of your samples for analysis. We can either analyze them live or have the data ready to work up with you during the demo.
