Merry Christmas to you all from Malvern Instruments
Hello, my name is Wendy Milne-Bennett, and I am the Head of HR for Malvern Instruments. I have been with the Company for more than five years and have global responsibility for Human Resources. I feel privileged in that my role has involved me working with employees from many countries, giving me the opportunity to learn about and appreciate the different ways Christmas is celebrated around the world. Since 2011 we have produced a regular Company newsletter for all employees across the Division called ‘Malvern Matters’. This has been an excellent way for us all to share the experiences of our Christmas and New Year festivities as well as hearing, during the rest of the year, about the hobbies, achievements and experiences of many of our Malvern employees. Some achievements have been quite incredible, like the wonderful spectacle as one of our employees placed a Malvern flag at the summit of Kilimanjaro, known as ‘the roof of Africa’ after an exhausting six-day trek up the 19,341ft high mountain!
What strikes me most is that, whilst there are always bound to be cultural differences across the world, the one constant in our Malvern family is the wonderful camaraderie and team spirit. Whilst this is visible at all times of the year it shines through even more strongly at this festive time no matter where we are located.
Across this year we have had many success stories, including a number of new product launches including the Viscotek SEC-MALS 20, the Viscosizer 200, the Mastersizer 3000E and the Kinexus pro+ and Kinexus ultra+, the opening of a new office in Mexico City and welcoming the NanoSight team to Malvern, to name just a few…. All these changes and opportunities have made this an extremely busy period, however, it never ceases to amaze me how many of our staff have taken time out of their busy schedules to take part in a wide range of activities including charitable events. One such globally reaching fund raising activity was what is starting to become an annual Malvern event… the Movern competition where employees attempt to grow the biggest and best moustache during the month of November (or should I say ‘Movember’). Long may it continue!
I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the Company, to wish all of our employees and other readers of this site our very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
