A 12-year evolution – Part 4: Smart Manager and leaping into a connected world

World in your hand

In this entry of our blog series exploring more about the Mastersizer 3000, we’re turning our attention to the digital world.

The world we live in is more connected than ever. And we don’t have to look far to see how digital technologies are a part of daily life for many.  From social media and messaging apps keeping us talking, to e-commerce allowing us to do business faster, and even ‘smart homes’ serving as more comfortable and sustainable places for us to rest our heads.

But what does it mean for an object like a home to be ‘smart’?

The concept of the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) is a big part of this story. It describes a network of ‘smart objects’ (such as physical devices and appliances) which use sensors, software, and network connectivity to collect and share data. And the possibilities of the IoT are virtually endless!

Smart Manager

Digital connectivity is another part of the Mastersizer 3000’s story of evolution. Because the Mastersizer 3000 is now a ‘smart instrument’ thanks to Malvern Panalytical’s Smart Manager service!

Every Mastersizer 3000 comes ‘smart-enabled’. And when you agree to connect to the cloud, our Tech Support Center can help you out remotely using telemetry data from your Mastersizer 3000 and schedule maintenance as necessary. Allowing you to get back to particle sizing faster and with less hassle, the diminished need for on-site diagnostics also helps reduce travel and the emissions it creates. A win-win I would say!

And you can rest assured that your data is secure. We only collect low-level telemetry data and the results of Malvern Panalytical calibration tests from your instrument. We don’t collect any of your test data and can’t control your instrument remotely. Our cloud connection uses proven secure, encrypted technology. What’s more, the PC you use only needs to be able to access your instrument – not the rest of your company network, your intranet, or any sensitive data. Plus, using Smart Manager means there is less need to share data over TeamViewer!

Smart Install

And by the way, the Mastersizer 3000 is smart in other ways too. If you want to get your new Mastersizer 3000 up and running faster, you should definitely consider ‘Smart Install’.

Anyone can get the Mastersizer 3000 installed with this service. Follow instructions provided and you’ll be on your way to particle size perfection in less than 90 minutes. What’s more – you get 15 months access to e-learning training.

Make the Connection

Smart Manager is just one of the ways in which the Mastersizer 3000 is making particle sizing easier than ever. If you want to find out more, malvernpanalytical.com is the place to be.
